Our courses are designed to teach individuals how to undertake Self Defence/ Breakaway & Disengagement in a safe and competent way. Although no formal qualifications are required individuals need to have the capacity to read and write in English and the physical ability to undertake and perform the physical skills required.
Our courses are generally 50% theory and 50% physical movements therefore course does require you to be in reasonable physical condition. You do not have to be a paragon of fitness, but you will be required to have the physical capability o undertake the basic activity and movements. We have a medical assessment form that all delegates are asked to complete before we commence any physical training, so if you do have any physical impairments, they will be highlighted and the instructor will advise accordingly. All delegates are required to complete a medical questionnaire prior to commencing the course. All injuries, past and present, must be disclosed, including any medication currently prescribed and / or being taken. The instructional / coaching staff reserve the right to exclude from the course any individual whom the staff have reason to believe may be unsuitable for training for health, safety and welfare reasons. Personal Competence: Any concerns about a delegate’s physical ability or competence to undertake the training will be brought to the individual’s attention by the Course Instructor. All delegates must wear suitable training kit for the full duration of the course e.g. comfortable clothing to allow movement. Examples of inappropriate clothing would include: any form of open-toed or slip-on shoes or sandals, footwear with heels, skirts / dresses, shorts, low-cut tops, etc.
It is advised that long har to be tied back during the training for Health & Safety reasons.
Please note: Due to Covid-19, PPE will need to be worn for the practical training as advised in the latest Government Guidance at the time of training. (Face Mask/ Visor)
Time is of the essence. Therefore, please ensure that you are on time for each session so that others are not waiting unnecessarily for you.
For personal safety reasons, all jewellery must be removed prior to any training commencing. Where an item of jewellery cannot be removed (i.e. wedding rings) it may be required to be covered dependent on its construction and style.
No alcohol is to be consumed during training. Any individual who breaches this condition will be removed from the course. In addition, any person who has (or has had in the recent past) had an alcohol dependency must bring this to the attention of the course tutors prior to the course commencing. Failure to do so may result in the individual being removed from the course.
Blossom Training & Development operates a drug-free training culture. Therefore, any individual who is caught taking illegal on un-prescribed drugs to artificially enhance their performance, or found to be in possession of such items, will be removed from the course and if necessary, reported to the Police. In addition, any person who has (or has had in the recent past) a drug dependency (including recovering drug abusers) must bring this to the attention of the course tutors prior to the course commencing. Failure to do so may result in the individual being removed from the course.
Videoing and the taking of pictures is not permitted without the express written permission of Blossom Training & Development.
The copyright of all course materials including Course Notes, Exercise Sheets, Visual Teaching Aids and Power Point presentations always remains the property of Blossom Training & Development and/ or the trainer who produced the material.
